<br />
Apparently that's what it is anyway, the definition of manifold I mean. There are many, as you would expect, but in the context of the manifold(s) I am talking about, that was the best I could find. I have to say I don't think its an accurate description of what I will be talking about, but I am not inclined to look for a different definition at this point in time, you are welcome to, if you wish.<br />
<br />
I started with a pic of Izzy too, how unusual, well it is compared to the last few posts. Although, I made such a fuss about the definition of manifold and how it doesn't really fit with the manifold(s) I'm talking about, but there isn't even one in the picture. There is an inlet, that's clear for all to see, but no manifold, not yet, its coming though, be patient.<br />
<br />
Coming back to the post, this is just a (relatively) short one that will cover the 2 manifolds, no more no less. Remember I said there were too many pics too put it all in one post, well this post is an example of me dealing with the overflow, surplus, excess, it's ok I wont go on.<br />
<br />
The first pic (as I am sure you know) is the inlet (carburetor/fuel in) on the barrel, with appropriate gasket in place. I know I say "I'm sure you know" but that's only because I assume (possibly wrongly) that if you are looking at this blog and have got this far, you have an interest in the subject matter and therefore a knowledge of it. Perhaps I shouldn't assume that at all, I apologise if I am wrong. I will keep explaining things as I go on, as if the reader knows nothing (<a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s6EaoPMANQM" target="_blank">I know nothing</a>) just in case someone reading doesn't (know) and for those that do, ignore it, you already know.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgtJALqXc84x2Z8vP_uBN-NUtUu-d1WQrD6t8y2DWgle79CrqET_IB2H1uudpddCJCiF3ey5FKT0Lyn61VCMN3nd7ObRhZrLRNzhTgBgrXBdP9hFPUFWH25NDvO7yJ4sY2jz9xu0vUF0Uo/s1600/P1000660.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgtJALqXc84x2Z8vP_uBN-NUtUu-d1WQrD6t8y2DWgle79CrqET_IB2H1uudpddCJCiF3ey5FKT0Lyn61VCMN3nd7ObRhZrLRNzhTgBgrXBdP9hFPUFWH25NDvO7yJ4sY2jz9xu0vUF0Uo/s640/P1000660.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
Above pic is the opposite side of the barrel and the outlet (exhaust/gas out) again with gasket in place. I like this pic, its nice to see a new barrel, new copper gasket and also the piston (with rings) inside the barrel. A steel barrel topped off by an aluminium head, all attached the the aluminium engine casing. You've gotta love a contrast of metals. The material, not the music, thought a lot of the music variety of metal is good too. I never knew there was such a contrast of metals (music wise) until i just looked. Some real doozies in <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Heavy_metal_genres" target="_blank">this list</a>, one could dedicate a whole post to just that alone. I wont, not here, not now, but may do on the <a href="http://nealbymouth.blogspot.co.uk/" target="_blank">other blog</a> at some point, depends how <strike>bored I get</strike> Inspired I feel.<br />
<br />
Once again I have gone off topic, so back to the post and next pic. This one finally contains the fabled manifold of which I spoke earlier (and this post is about) how magnificent it looks in all its splendour. OK its just a manifold, but its there, bolted on to the barrel and awaiting an exhaust to be attached to it, I sense the theme of a future post developing.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgan_8scylVRISwGf-rMeFk7XI5XtUxhHGWYFwW0E3aEFG8kt9JtEzc8FyFajxemTaqkz62osE1_5JpmR0zJblw0Q07ch6Uqhhf8fhxKC9ReN2jb6FKIASzfoS_Q7zO4K1jD3OPWrVv40c/s1600/P1000661.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgan_8scylVRISwGf-rMeFk7XI5XtUxhHGWYFwW0E3aEFG8kt9JtEzc8FyFajxemTaqkz62osE1_5JpmR0zJblw0Q07ch6Uqhhf8fhxKC9ReN2jb6FKIASzfoS_Q7zO4K1jD3OPWrVv40c/s640/P1000661.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
The last pic, well, that has not 1 but 2 manifolds, see, it was worth waiting to the end of the post for te big "manifold" pay off wasn't it. You can see the inlet manifold in the foreground, awaiting a carburetor and in the background, the outlet one, minus exhaust. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjPDq-1tlKX9WcPRihp4nHoC3PDtpG2bvlSYSJLzol6ab09kROKNy1ZhjoTkFrwewR5Vp_Qh37O7IRx5NWn36db5XeldJ8c-TnBAGv-yuwzncysrPXubG2QixnCrff8kz6svATseAWnt_w/s1600/P1000662.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjPDq-1tlKX9WcPRihp4nHoC3PDtpG2bvlSYSJLzol6ab09kROKNy1ZhjoTkFrwewR5Vp_Qh37O7IRx5NWn36db5XeldJ8c-TnBAGv-yuwzncysrPXubG2QixnCrff8kz6svATseAWnt_w/s640/P1000662.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
Neither of the manifolds are standard items as the parts (carb and exhaust) going on them aren't standard either. Well, it would be silly having a standard carburetor and exhaust when the barrel etc and other bits inside the engine casing aren't, wouldn't it?<br />
<br />
More soon, don't ask how soon, you know how it works by now with regard to frequency of posts :-)Nealhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05102238381809527009noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8274496758467219285.post-56398110351441837132017-09-15T18:51:00.001+01:002017-09-15T18:51:10.149+01:00Make a brake for it?<img alt="Image result for make a break for it" height="179" src="https://encrypted-tbn0.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcRd6p3dvvU9155oRE6ddf0RqotvVZGJ7QnmJj2QR8C72hnBtElgKg" width="320" /><br />
<br />
I did enjoy Far Cry 3, most enjoyable game, and the follow up, waiting for the fifth now.<br />
<br />
Actually that's 2 posts in a row now where I have started with a pic that has absolutely nothing to do with Izzy, I need to reign that that sort of thing in a bit. Leave it with me I will work on it and try to ensure it happens no more, or at least infrequently if it does.<br />
<br />
I was trying to be funny (<a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eX67z-fcY_Y" target="_blank">its not that funny is it</a>) I had that as a ringtone for a while, not that version, the studio version, I'm veering off again aren't I.<br />
<br />
Brakes, (thems the breaks) that what its about, the post I mean,<br />
<br />
I have already (a long long ago) rebuilt the <a href="https://spanishtv175.blogspot.co.uk/2013/08/disc-brake-innocenti-again.html" target="_blank">front brake</a> and talk about it in a post many years ago, it really was, I'm not being dramatic. Now is the turn of the rear, to be fair a far simpler affair than the disc front end so just a few pics and not much to say.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj51TrUnaf2pjlYZ62ogPgVwWUwQd3JB-5yCgsK2zxcYBFNq21ta3FmkBXSiqZJq2XgIexwpPp2jK88fOpqYYQ41uaBMqArdTdIIHcAIasjAOSeEcGhgW6UaDeQY5re_XEXLdfBDPUGAeI/s1600/P1000654.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj51TrUnaf2pjlYZ62ogPgVwWUwQd3JB-5yCgsK2zxcYBFNq21ta3FmkBXSiqZJq2XgIexwpPp2jK88fOpqYYQ41uaBMqArdTdIIHcAIasjAOSeEcGhgW6UaDeQY5re_XEXLdfBDPUGAeI/s640/P1000654.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
New shoes (obviously) and associated bits.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
My mistake, "newfren" I thought they were new shoes, <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fwrux97osg0" target="_blank">ooooh new shoes</a>, I had forgotten how funny that ad was, anyway, back to what I was doing.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEigFEUDxpeVA1bRhZ3slWygopMLKNuJM_LLqnHVFG1ZVRgqXZrWIgn_q-tO8KzQjYqZgWcO4q05QLcA_-X7fxo9yI8tRzQ5fnNibCrmepABBu8CAD20Og5xlBZJNhcpbLE-MA2RgjxZjyk/s1600/P1000656.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEigFEUDxpeVA1bRhZ3slWygopMLKNuJM_LLqnHVFG1ZVRgqXZrWIgn_q-tO8KzQjYqZgWcO4q05QLcA_-X7fxo9yI8tRzQ5fnNibCrmepABBu8CAD20Og5xlBZJNhcpbLE-MA2RgjxZjyk/s640/P1000656.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
A distance shot, as opposed to the last 2 closer up ones, a pic that also includes a discarded (for now) timing disc, although I know it will be very necessary at some point so isn't really discarded. I have genuine concerns around the timing, still I have already done that post so won't dwell, it will only cause me anxiety. Also a pair of adjustable circlip pliers, everyone needs a pair of them in their life.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEht1U3ayqnRP8X5BHINpQe1JlT8T1USOhvW5ry_zcRZ0OTGz5xjtYYSXSigE0LTvGtpTs2B4irhzcJgsIHVc_41LyD14Fvoh4BYHyhpn8RCVhMo33TUicJ00Nx9AwvreJQg0znm1jRdDYY/s1600/P1000657.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEht1U3ayqnRP8X5BHINpQe1JlT8T1USOhvW5ry_zcRZ0OTGz5xjtYYSXSigE0LTvGtpTs2B4irhzcJgsIHVc_41LyD14Fvoh4BYHyhpn8RCVhMo33TUicJ00Nx9AwvreJQg0znm1jRdDYY/s640/P1000657.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
Well it was the obvious next step once the rear brake was all fitted wasn't it. It was crying out for a hub to be attached and bolted on then a locking washer fitted and tightened down, well no one wants a hub flying off at any speed!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjoeMTPCA8T3WEtYpZyz48mvBoXb9uiHcnOrJ-W0OLqmoup4VmX_2hXHFZRatzbxliQ5N1A0du4eUSDHvSQOM1FGzuxQ081jzKqfIfSzgbygWYbXlDY8zR61u_dnfAydleyRN1o-Lt9lAw/s1600/P1000658.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjoeMTPCA8T3WEtYpZyz48mvBoXb9uiHcnOrJ-W0OLqmoup4VmX_2hXHFZRatzbxliQ5N1A0du4eUSDHvSQOM1FGzuxQ081jzKqfIfSzgbygWYbXlDY8zR61u_dnfAydleyRN1o-Lt9lAw/s640/P1000658.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
Same hub different angle, cheeky little rear brake lever sneaking into the shot too. Well its not sneaking, its just there, you couldn't see it from the other angle that's all.<br />
<br />
While I am on the subject of that all, it is, for now. Back soon, hopefully :-)Nealhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05102238381809527009noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8274496758467219285.post-55480833452747583382017-09-10T19:11:00.001+01:002017-09-10T19:11:23.288+01:00Pictorial title below<br />
<img alt="Image result for catch up" height="342" src="https://media.licdn.com/mpr/mpr/AAEAAQAAAAAAAAxJAAAAJGY2NTUwNzVmLWMyYmUtNGQ4MC1iN2Y1LWUyODlhOTEyMmNkYQ.jpg" width="640" /><br />
<br />
<br />
<span style="font-size: x-large;">NOT</span><br />
<span style="font-size: x-large;"><br /></span>
<img alt="Image result for ketchup" height="640" src="https://encrypted-tbn0.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcSATaa3zdJ65hYwMcgxuf1OVYUoqFjzgDhlKP4hirkD58lRM0yF" width="435" /><br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
That would just be too saucy</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Yes, after another extended delay I thought a "catch up post" was in order and I wanted to give it a pictorial title to keep the pictorial theme going. I say theme as there's going to pictures in this post, lots of pictures, probably too many pictures, but that's catch up for you</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Before I start with that though I have to say I was pleased to find a monkey on a bike to illustrate the catch up (you've got to love a monkey) and also non red ketchup, nothing against the colour red, well maybe a little, so all in all a positive start.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Now back to Izzy.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Although I haven't posted for a long while she has progressed from the <a href="https://spanishtv175.blogspot.co.uk/2015/11/exterminate.html" target="_blank">last post</a>, which, if I remember right was timing based, its all in the timing. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Eh hmm.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Many "life" things have got in the way again, causing another lengthy delay, mostly very good things I hasten to add, but they have all been <a href="https://nealbymouth.blogspot.co.uk/2017/08/distraction.html" target="_blank">distractions</a> (as highlighted in my <a href="https://nealbymouth.blogspot.co.uk/" target="_blank">other blog</a>) and halted progress severely. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Before the excitement gets too great I should say that she isn't that much further on from where she was when last pictured, but the pace I do things anything is progress right?</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
So following on from we we left off, with the barrel etc going on and the timing being tinkered with it was the crankcase covers turn to be fitted, after a gasket went on of course.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>

Now originally (when I started this post) ... (not that long ago granted) I was going to do all the "catch up" stuff in one go. I'm not going to now, it will be too much, picture wise, word wise and also I have other stuff to do so ignore the comments at the start about lots of pics. I will post again very soon, I don't mean soon for me, as in "about a year" I mean a few days, certainly within a week, yes really a few days. In the mean time, one last pic.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">

Its a box of shiny stuff, exciting eh, shiny stuff that came back from the chromers (not <a href="https://www.google.co.uk/maps/place/Cromer/@52.9245008,1.2608282,13z/data=!3m1!4b1!4m5!3m4!1s0x47d7423102d19b3f:0xacf26dcbfeb57a6a!8m2!3d52.931448!4d1.301866" target="_blank">Cromer</a>) the <a href="https://www.hockleyenterprises.co.uk/home/" target="_blank">chrome platers</a>. Excellent as usual and I will divulge the contents of said box and explain something you can see in the picture that may have you wondering at some point in the future, probably :-)</div>

<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7r9olmTvmHI" target="_blank">Exterminate</a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Come on, you have to admit, it does look quite a lot like an upside down <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dalek" target="_blank">Dalek</a>, no, just me then. </div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
I had no idea how much stuff there is out there on tinternet to do with Daleks, there really is something for everyone, <a href="http://www.dalek6388.co.uk/" target="_blank">look</a>, just quickly browsing, you can see what I mean. That is just one site, there are loads that cater for everything Dalek related, I was going to say some people clearly have too much time on their hands, but coming from me, who thinks the above picture is an upside down Dalek and has wasted a rather lengthy paragraph banging on about Daleks (and the time spent looking at Dalek related websites) that would probably be a foolish statement.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Ok so it isn't one (upside down Dalek) its far more exciting (possibly) its actually a TDC tool, yes, you read it right. </div>
<br />
I should probably say now, this is what I like to call an "interim" post, as I am very aware its been many weeks since the last one and I thought I better put something up, however nonsensical. It's likely to be a post with many words that says very little, or, to coin a lyric, taken from a <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dHb7_steTDU" target="_blank">song</a> by another of my favourite <a href="https://www.facebook.com/TalkingHeadsofficial/" target="_blank">groups</a>...........<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
"You're talkin' a lot, but you're not sayin' anything"</div>
<br />
So, back to the post, timing, its all in the timing. I fear, despite my best efforts (TDC tool and timing disc to name but 2) <strike>accurately adjusting</strike> sorting out Izzy's timing will be a bit hit and miss and more luck than judgement. There are a few things scooter rebuild, related I am not so keen on (carb adjustment, timing and electrics, oh, and paint)....(ok, many things) although I have a "good go at" and am getting better at, with time and patience and probably old age lol. Timing, is very much one of these "learning curve" things that I am not completely confident I will get right, without a degree (excuse the pun) of tinkering, still, time will tell.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEihVYBVXCm_jcO_4wPwzCfi9giuibl_6Qg2Pc3JK4FPd2IxksBYtCy7AApc15buV76qaTMwwlm7OKUoMgf8qJoyeopyEMUz7iSoY9Gh1QJg0xmG0pCQogz7CoxbsUTeTH55oVj9aOTmsF0/s1600/P1000645.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEihVYBVXCm_jcO_4wPwzCfi9giuibl_6Qg2Pc3JK4FPd2IxksBYtCy7AApc15buV76qaTMwwlm7OKUoMgf8qJoyeopyEMUz7iSoY9Gh1QJg0xmG0pCQogz7CoxbsUTeTH55oVj9aOTmsF0/s640/P1000645.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
The flywheel even has degree marks on it to aid in the process, is it any easier for me, ummmmm<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiunbIHbxY4VQNe92nBtACKG4tlOjFzE1SZOJEAhOZE3q-LdHDRaxVKPpsZKsVpagWdQMJOaMqPCgOsSYoGu8q04EMqR4zIwmMkeEQ7riYRgdgDSROlD2e2zfuMqDgpQc9OzU0_uz3nMUE/s1600/P1000646.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiunbIHbxY4VQNe92nBtACKG4tlOjFzE1SZOJEAhOZE3q-LdHDRaxVKPpsZKsVpagWdQMJOaMqPCgOsSYoGu8q04EMqR4zIwmMkeEQ7riYRgdgDSROlD2e2zfuMqDgpQc9OzU0_uz3nMUE/s640/P1000646.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I think if it was a traditional points system as opposed to an electronic ignition, I may, no, I <b>would</b> feel more confident, still, everything is where I "think" it needs to be and at some point down the line (when I first start Izzy) I will know how accurate I was, or wasn't :-)</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I did say at the end of the last post that I would be giving you cylinder head pics, so not to disappoint (as they are a few weeks later than I had hoped) I will give you <strike>not 1, not 2, but 3, yes</strike> THREE. The 1st of which is above, I should mention that I am not advertising for B&Q in the hope of receiving a new hedge trimmer (or hand bimmer as a certain, wonderful person used to call it) or complete set of garden furniture, or even barbecue, all of which would be handy. No, the bag in the background is used for rubbish, simple as that, please don't read anything else in to it.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
A 2nd cylinder head pic, you get to see the inlet port too (no carb fitted yet) and a bit of the crank rod through the inlet opening, how exciting.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Your third and final cylinder head pic (please note I have made no attempt at innuendo around giving head pics, like I did in the last post) you can also see part of the clever blue wheel of numbers in the above pic, or as its commonly called, a timing disc. I will mention more on the timing disc and things associated with it ( I think you know what I mean) in a future (probably the next) post, but for now, will move on to something else.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Prepare yourself for the next pic, make sure your sitting down/comfortably, are wearing loose clothing, wont be distracted etc etc etc</div>

<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;">WOW</span>, at least that's the effect it had on me when I took it out the box and saw/handled it. I did allude to its wondrousness in a <a href="http://spanishtv175.blogspot.co.uk/2015/05/gori-elaborazioni.html" target="_blank">previous post</a> but you have to admit (if like me you are impressed by such things) it is wonderfully crafted bit of kit. Yes, a BGM one piece flywheel, for more info <a href="http://www.lambrettaspares.com/info/mb-*-new-products/bgm-*-electronic-flywheel+273.html" target="_blank">look here</a>, but suffice to say, its rather nice.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
To compliment said flywheel, how about a new BGM stator plate to provide for all your electronic ignition needs (<a href="http://www.bgmproducts.co.uk/spares/electronic-ignition-and-spares/electronic-ignition-stator-plate,-12-volt-ac,-bgm/mbgm0028.html" target="_blank">more info</a> for those that want it) like the flywheel, its rather nice, but then I am easily impressed, well, by certain things anyway.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgnOLWghDr18ebAPzYp0mZZlCBGyvZsCLjcueoC67zahJHuOQtTgtuNnDolnOX8iNS6FGonE7z3wsUj9ObCsjx0jerYccp5759YA4KbxvnJl-7zy0xGo7ZPIvw3ZL06ZTOQusJUPC1Yp8Q/s1600/P1000640.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgnOLWghDr18ebAPzYp0mZZlCBGyvZsCLjcueoC67zahJHuOQtTgtuNnDolnOX8iNS6FGonE7z3wsUj9ObCsjx0jerYccp5759YA4KbxvnJl-7zy0xGo7ZPIvw3ZL06ZTOQusJUPC1Yp8Q/s640/P1000640.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
There is the same stator plate in the place its meant to be, the place it was made for, that's right, on the end of the crank shaft and waiting for the flywheel to be put over it.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
As I hurtle to a rather abrupt end now is probably the time to say that's it for this post, I had planned on going into more detail on certain things and may well do in the future, in a backdated/flashback type way, but now, well I want to get on with my evening, sorry :-)</div>

<br />
The first post in a long while (since <a href="http://spanishtv175.blogspot.co.uk/2015/04/i-cant-explain.html" target="_blank">this</a> one) that I have started with a pic/image/visual thingy that is not an actual picture of some part of Izzy in some way. The reason, well, its a pictorial representation of what I did not long after the last <a href="http://spanishtv175.blogspot.co.uk/2015/08/whats-in-box.html" target="_blank">post</a>. You may remember (if not don't worry, I will repeat it) I mentioned the tightness of the chain, or lack of, it was truly troubling me, so I did as it says in the image up there and <strike>pulled</strike> tightened <strike>my</strike> Izzy's chain. Not by much I hasten to add, but after checking I felt it needed it and it was clearly bothering me, after all, I'm still going on about it, anyway, its done now and <strike>we</strike> I can move on.<br />

So, back to pictures of Izzy, (sounds a little like a <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7BmkBroiw1s" target="_blank">song</a> doesn't it)....(maybe a little)....(come on, go with me on it).... as you can see above there are now 4 cylinder studs and a cylinder base gasket all applied to the engine case, can you tell where things are going.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj1xyFnoUJic9CNw141x39tlQQ8XKAmbGUXmhu2pLXoPoc44ZoZdaH723aMfmmpRNOCsHOMeyXNPWfKwMj5Twngy1FsKwLI6WxQL938R5MAzY1ZiFGHlfpRtaf35_-pnewOlPDtkVOrVbs/s1600/P1000630.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj1xyFnoUJic9CNw141x39tlQQ8XKAmbGUXmhu2pLXoPoc44ZoZdaH723aMfmmpRNOCsHOMeyXNPWfKwMj5Twngy1FsKwLI6WxQL938R5MAzY1ZiFGHlfpRtaf35_-pnewOlPDtkVOrVbs/s640/P1000630.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
Look, look, there's a (shiny new) piston there now, you can see the gudgeon pin and circlip too, holding it onto the crankshaft, <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XOhZgAPn_CU" target="_blank">which <strike>was</strike> is nice</a><br />

You know the routine by now if you have been paying attention, same thing, different angle though note the arrow on the piston pointing down to <strike>Australia</strike> the exhaust port on the cylinder. Having a bit of a "crossed out word" overload in this post for some reason aren't I.</div>

The final 3 pics show the cylinder seated down into the engine casing, from the now obligatory different angles. I will likely give you head (cylinder head) pics in the next post, if things keep going in the same direction/down the same path/ along the same route and I don't distract myself with something else.</div>

<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg1XdrWbMq-ytnpQbjYoW-jricGw1FIk2b7O0bgaUr5pbZdcjwOmDKPVjUU3IRo4yh-am-ZGqjK0QxoDrMGhfSCiMMpX4GmhKRfcPPYye0UP2-kteyeUOQI_9zhcrSJqwAAbFmvSkJioWI/s1600/P1000626.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg1XdrWbMq-ytnpQbjYoW-jricGw1FIk2b7O0bgaUr5pbZdcjwOmDKPVjUU3IRo4yh-am-ZGqjK0QxoDrMGhfSCiMMpX4GmhKRfcPPYye0UP2-kteyeUOQI_9zhcrSJqwAAbFmvSkJioWI/s640/P1000626.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
Go on, tell me, tell me, what's in the box? All will become clear later, but first, I want to talk about studs.<br />
<br />
I don't mean a type of piercing, racehorse or gentleman who is popular with the ladies, nor do I mean a piece of timber for fixing plasterboard to, or the thing on the bottom of a football boot.<br />
<br />
No, I mean: "<i>a bolt with threads on both ends, to be screwed permanently into a fixed part at one end and receive a nut upon the other; - called also standing bolt</i>" not my definition I hasten to add, but accurate enough. I have used many of them throughout the rebuilding of Izzy's engine but the ones Ii want to talk about today are the chaincase cover ones. Why, aren't they just studs? well, interesting you say that, on one hand (not sure if its the left or right) they are yes, but on the other, they are different. Time for a picture I think, after all, it paints a thousand words <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mheE1u1uNNE" target="_blank">apparently</a>. That was an <a href="http://www.english-grammar-revolution.com/idiomatic-expressions.html" target="_blank">idiomatic expression</a>, who knew (no me neither) but I'm sure some did. By the way, I'm not a big fan of bread (bread products yes, just not the group) but I felt it emphasised my point.<br />
<br />
So, back to the task in hand, studs..........<br />

I'm sure by now you know I do like a pic of the same thing, from a different angle, so there are 3 above. Studs in a crankcase, could almost be musical piece couldn't it, "studs in a crankcase" it's not, it's just a description. So, these studs, why so different, well, they have holes in, allen key sized holes, for fitting and removing said studs. I thought it was a cracking idea when I saw them, no more stuck studs that you end up drilling, cutting, heating and getting extremely frustrated at trying to remove. </div>

Dirty, round the wrong way, bare, need I go on. I apologies in advance, but its going to be another post of few words and many pics, most of which will be slightly different than the ones before. Maybe I should have a spot the difference feature, hmmmm. thinking with my brain now.<br />
<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Oooh, bit different, cleaner, less bare (oil seal fitted) though now upside down, the chaincase, not the oil seal. This side was the part that was vapour blasted (along with the engine casing) as mentioned back <a href="http://spanishtv175.blogspot.co.uk/2015/05/words-and-pictures.html" target="_blank">then</a> so it should be clean, unlike the other side, that will soon be dirty (once the gearbox oil is added) so doesn't need to be overly clean.</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Many more bits fitted, kick start shaft and mechanism, return spring, stop, guide and bits you cant see (brass bushes) as opposed to brass monkeys, which is something completely different. I was going to (and probably should have) replaced the "kickstart shaft piston" (several of the posts in this blog have had the potential for being innuendo heavy) with new (unchipped) teeth (unlike me, the chipped teeth I mean) but didn't as they aren't too bad (worn wise) and they will also match up nicely to the first gear to which they will be meeting when kicking Izzy over. It's also me keeping original parts as much as possible due to, on this occasion, laziness lol. Still, if I come to regret it and need to replace it (the kickstart shaft piston) its not a massive job once Izzy is all assembled and I really don't think I will need to, it doesn't look that bad (worn), I know, I'm trying to convince myself aren't I....... </div>

That one is slightly different, it has a clutch arm shaft in it, with a clutch lever (not to be confused with the headset clutch lever) ..... (that will feature many posts from now) and associated circlips and washers. </div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Look, there it all is again, from a further away angle, which allows you to take in all that is now there that wasn't in the first pic, at the start of this post. Well not all of it, as some is internal or covered, so you can't see that, but its there.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
You will be <strike>relieved</strike> glad to know, I didn't use all the pics I could have, but I still have them, so be warned. Remember though, this whole process is (as previously stated several times) more of a record for me than anything else :-)</div>

<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgpADtCz6ZUo5xIuaeLaIwxCXJ8leseXCz70yNPh3UCgpWXE7eHQ2dtTEmC09hCYBxoCQaKDHn_RInXWkpuuHVyM82Ura3P5PaU3VF3XRcTJ-0gGWrvNXpinMglmKx0S5wkJJbut_6UYFU/s1600/P1000601.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgpADtCz6ZUo5xIuaeLaIwxCXJ8leseXCz70yNPh3UCgpWXE7eHQ2dtTEmC09hCYBxoCQaKDHn_RInXWkpuuHVyM82Ura3P5PaU3VF3XRcTJ-0gGWrvNXpinMglmKx0S5wkJJbut_6UYFU/s640/P1000601.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
Not me I hasten to add (that's crying I mean), no, Izzy is, look, tears of oil stream from her crankcase like a lone stream of water travelling in the middle of nowhere departing from a wide river of mixed emotions.............. actually, its just a bit of the oil that I used to soak the clutch plates in that has seeped out after they were compressed. It could also be the remnants of the oil used on the gears when they were lubricated prior to being fitted, so nothing to worry about.<br />
<br />
Whenever I write the word crying, I find it very hard not to think of a certain Only Fools and Horses <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SOxfOQV6NtQ" target="_blank">sketch</a>, you need to forward to around the 40th minute, but it still makes me laugh now, I am easily pleased though.<br />
<br />
So, back to the post, it's only a short one (you may be pleased to know) as I have been <strike>helping with an an erection</strike> putting a shed up today and the time has flown by, so yet again, Izzy has been neglected.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj6KCJCFW3Xo6BoNmOFzpOvE4iRVdeR70TkHmuPWQWCwCgEtlOCzS_Y3vywilMyQpwvvHnpg-iH_Yi4dRr8JS_sXoKps-GEGrxGs2NO53nGeJzilM7i_OKxusPR46C3AFfzgg9fFVsHnak/s1600/P1000602.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj6KCJCFW3Xo6BoNmOFzpOvE4iRVdeR70TkHmuPWQWCwCgEtlOCzS_Y3vywilMyQpwvvHnpg-iH_Yi4dRr8JS_sXoKps-GEGrxGs2NO53nGeJzilM7i_OKxusPR46C3AFfzgg9fFVsHnak/s640/P1000602.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
Look how she weeps all over the workbench...........<br />
<br />
Seriously, it is just a bit of oil, there is no need to call social services, it is all under control and as they say, there is no use crying over spoilt oil, not sure who says it, but I am sure I have heard them, or imagined it, it doesn't matter now, its happened, we need to move on, I need to move on (clearly)<br />
<br />
As stated earlier, this is a short post, more will be done to Izzy tomorrow but I will most likely not post (on this blog) tomorrow as its a special day, an anniversary no less, so I will probably post something, just not here??????????????????????????? you cant beat a bit of mystery, well you can, but I'm not going to explain how now, for I must away...............Nealhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05102238381809527009noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8274496758467219285.post-76742358501060846082015-08-02T20:14:00.000+01:002015-08-02T20:14:42.471+01:00Olympic Rings (aka clutch plates)<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhRCKGbCSGq0Oj3VTGq7luRHYhgnH996GJfyF3Aq7RGZxo96-oVTk96bSsw79T2zx4VPPES22ZNqHOGL8Bv3vJyjY0GMfd-slrRXDOLgQhdY-RFhZMzaP_hOgfwfQgOUvOuUwUcrbx7ux0/s1600/P1000591.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhRCKGbCSGq0Oj3VTGq7luRHYhgnH996GJfyF3Aq7RGZxo96-oVTk96bSsw79T2zx4VPPES22ZNqHOGL8Bv3vJyjY0GMfd-slrRXDOLgQhdY-RFhZMzaP_hOgfwfQgOUvOuUwUcrbx7ux0/s640/P1000591.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
Well maybe not, there are only 4 (not 5) and they aren't organised correctly, but just imagine, if there was one more <strike>(it would be a 5 plate clutch)</strike> it would be the same number as the Olympic rings and if it was organised differently, it would look just like them. If you want to know more about the Olympic rings, click <a href="http://registration.olympic.org/en/faq/detail/id/26" target="_blank">here</a>, if you want to know about Izzy's clutch, stay here and keep reading.<br />
<br />
I soaked the new cork plates overnight (as you do and I'm sure you know why) in oil, prior to assembly, funnily enough, in a tub in the lounge much to DB's dismay, but it made it easier for me to turn them to make sure they were well soaked (not said in a cockney accent) just thoroughly soaked.<br />
<br />
I then fitted the strengthened clutch springs, held in place with a dab of grease (supplied with the Gori kit, the springs, not the grease) as you can see below.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhDr4wfhyphenhyphenzalcD2A2j2JngVwUJH7_Mm2huy6EE8RKZszAy5UdgIYMZDt6i-CIyTJ7SCmjJjl1jpBZvXjHdXbL1qbK0JoU_7WRWiGne5Oclzx_je54BTQhm6BxwH7VdD36hqV6YAK1yn0DU/s1600/P1000593.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhDr4wfhyphenhyphenzalcD2A2j2JngVwUJH7_Mm2huy6EE8RKZszAy5UdgIYMZDt6i-CIyTJ7SCmjJjl1jpBZvXjHdXbL1qbK0JoU_7WRWiGne5Oclzx_je54BTQhm6BxwH7VdD36hqV6YAK1yn0DU/s640/P1000593.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
Then the clutch basket, followed by new cork (and steel) plates went in, one after the other, repeat until done.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjcEzecU1KQaTab2yuY4iiu_k9f4WhmimK2KCQrMimksVNlZmGdP0nnhfeLiok9RZxDERlzAP8skA7XTyVPo3I38Dn-r5m4hXiqkBMhUU1iAAZ0eD03yLaCWG0RzIms4xBwmQ2QsGP05k0/s1600/P1000594.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjcEzecU1KQaTab2yuY4iiu_k9f4WhmimK2KCQrMimksVNlZmGdP0nnhfeLiok9RZxDERlzAP8skA7XTyVPo3I38Dn-r5m4hXiqkBMhUU1iAAZ0eD03yLaCWG0RzIms4xBwmQ2QsGP05k0/s640/P1000594.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
Pic above is basket with no plates, pic below is basket with all cork and metal plates fitted (and clutch compressor still in place). Well, even I couldn't be bothered to take a pic of each one in turn being fitted, that would be far to dull for you to look at dear viewer.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
What I will do though, in the way of bonus of Sunday night pics, is put another 2 from different angles, with the clutch compressor still in place...................<br />

Followed by a further 3 pics with the compressor gone, and the clutch all happy and as it should be (including its retaining circlip) from different angles for your delight and delectation :-)<br />

<br />
<br />
Yes, they could be a folk group. or some "made up" terms is an old <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aJ0nFQgRApY" target="_blank">2 Ronnie's sketch</a> (Mr Barker being the master of wordplay) but in reality, neither of those is the case, its just a description of what has been done and what the pics show. I also know it isn't a picture of a clutch spider, sprocket or chain, that's further down (below). This is the 2 new (beneath the 2 old) roller bearings that the clutch spider sits on/in, whatever takes you fancy.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiZjAEhfCo5u7Gv_1CDoInouiygDrIykPlPLxwKfSgbNYgPwd2L5UrpzA0Kt_Q4DmLmOKiE0OAY6HLntpPf3oR5U3zJt1X_lDyAnz76fZ5ArvQg-P2t9PZL3S2uWjjelz7ljq_HoIN_axY/s1600/P1000585.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiZjAEhfCo5u7Gv_1CDoInouiygDrIykPlPLxwKfSgbNYgPwd2L5UrpzA0Kt_Q4DmLmOKiE0OAY6HLntpPf3oR5U3zJt1X_lDyAnz76fZ5ArvQg-P2t9PZL3S2uWjjelz7ljq_HoIN_axY/s640/P1000585.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
That's a picture of a clutch spider, sprocket and chain, you can also see the chain guides trying to sneak in to the right of the shot. Those crafty "<a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Photobombing" target="_blank">photobombing</a>" chain guides. They are both still loose in this pic, the nuts aren't tight and tab washer hasn't been bent, as you can see.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh9rHLvkQVh8_7UmDd4L4OCZx-zOeB6iQCPO0uJm86t6T9FAokIhUkc81lSPuhiQFpCaX2UmG8rjaNJfLktFZqBMXwA4Hfv2s7g6xUGJn1ur08aiFfQvQj-TBrL_3UjBVk4w7lsR1O7tZA/s1600/P1000588.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh9rHLvkQVh8_7UmDd4L4OCZx-zOeB6iQCPO0uJm86t6T9FAokIhUkc81lSPuhiQFpCaX2UmG8rjaNJfLktFZqBMXwA4Hfv2s7g6xUGJn1ur08aiFfQvQj-TBrL_3UjBVk4w7lsR1O7tZA/s640/P1000588.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
Now they have (nuts been tightened and tab washer bent) rather sloppily granted, but done all the same and will be functional if not aesthetic, not they will be seen anyway, plus they will be all oily and dirty over time so I don't know why I am making such a big deal about it :-)<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjjyTy69JDI-zY4sCgNkUPeYIl30l5Bp4RmR_ec3YOHGvCQ6i6X-ywyp4k0NV57pog1tNM5ulH5SrYa2kbhdzIIKGwSgASPTnP5_tlVa5BgUyBaCNJV3tJ3gABKl2hrFNV5-bedoBbp1Gs/s1600/P1000590.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjjyTy69JDI-zY4sCgNkUPeYIl30l5Bp4RmR_ec3YOHGvCQ6i6X-ywyp4k0NV57pog1tNM5ulH5SrYa2kbhdzIIKGwSgASPTnP5_tlVa5BgUyBaCNJV3tJ3gABKl2hrFNV5-bedoBbp1Gs/s640/P1000590.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
An overview, showing all the aforementioned (I'm not repeating them) items in place, the appropriate tab washers bent (the clutch spider nut one along with the chain guide ones) and something missing from the clutch spider, yes, clutch basket and plates, guess what's up next?<br />

<br />
Or "oil thrower washer" as it's referred to, though why someone would want a dish with a hole in it beats me, equally, why throw oil around? but call it whatever you want, its in place sitting over the drive side of the crank, not that you can really tell due to the reflective qualities of new shiny metal....<br />
<br />
The next pic shows the drive sleeve in place<br />

<br />
Which is a combination of the last 2 posts, the first of which was about the mag housing and the second of which was, well, you get the idea.<br />
<br />
Well now they are finally reunited.<br />
<br />
For the first time in many a moon (not a <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=03WbHdsQrRw" target="_blank">blue</a> one)...(give it 30 seconds) the engine case not only has a crank in it but also has a mag housing attached.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEihjtQVIQjjifEbYWmtF2GautecGt_lm7EVOvLBBMVwD1Cl9Ii_HEv_eCCwJREiFStvMYpM2m8iCTHbhV3FbLPFjaJITkopSahJwGhLKpEiScS2J2h-fA7ucohSrAdMc-qUpNmcMbP5_Hk/s1600/P1000571.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEihjtQVIQjjifEbYWmtF2GautecGt_lm7EVOvLBBMVwD1Cl9Ii_HEv_eCCwJREiFStvMYpM2m8iCTHbhV3FbLPFjaJITkopSahJwGhLKpEiScS2J2h-fA7ucohSrAdMc-qUpNmcMbP5_Hk/s320/P1000571.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
The only thing separating them is the above gasket, but its ok, it supposed to be there, its not being funny or weird, its doing its job.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiyrvNzQ7ShWvpOuBfWVZJm94XdsIXYw4FsKAyk8FWWyQIER8o5Q6uwNIZsPnI49R9TVPEaWMOSsi_2NRdZP1_lNIxaljfImRYnVn5nU9L7AbRohzf5iQTINUsIs_JTjh0I2OpqJ6KLZRg/s1600/P1000568.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiyrvNzQ7ShWvpOuBfWVZJm94XdsIXYw4FsKAyk8FWWyQIER8o5Q6uwNIZsPnI49R9TVPEaWMOSsi_2NRdZP1_lNIxaljfImRYnVn5nU9L7AbRohzf5iQTINUsIs_JTjh0I2OpqJ6KLZRg/s320/P1000568.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
As if by magic the mag housing is attached (its not magic, its the three studs and bolts you can see)<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi5mCiPUtWF7sFHYtF1gQn7Pjj-X45A97gp8S49MM2mM_cy9jyJLJQlMYY33vEDMadVK2pxyTqdTnaZE_8RIgWPalecQB6nxCHwhgKS1ujHmouzM8czoh6UsM0AhFq2IY0C_tX9_7Px9nc/s1600/P1000570.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi5mCiPUtWF7sFHYtF1gQn7Pjj-X45A97gp8S49MM2mM_cy9jyJLJQlMYY33vEDMadVK2pxyTqdTnaZE_8RIgWPalecQB6nxCHwhgKS1ujHmouzM8czoh6UsM0AhFq2IY0C_tX9_7Px9nc/s320/P1000570.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
Same mag housing, different angle, you can't see the join (to coin a <a href="http://www.comedy.co.uk/features/ernie_wise_you_cant_see_the_join/" target="_blank">phrase</a>) except of course you can, quite clearly, but no more than is usual.<br />

<br />
And there it is again, from another (slightly different) angle, getting a bit samey on the pic front isn't it, well I did say I may get something else done, other than just the above and as you can see below I did, nothing much, but the chain guides are fitted too. Only loosely for now, until I fit the accompanying bits (including chain) and can tighten them up into position.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh90URSoySXdoyphJHZ5E4mROgN7jxpedv-pDlyJtwxuHprB8xQfcpTdtaA617vh443lpPsyGRYhKK2Qxw5IZ6EOMDPvAJaHg-yVmPnsApXXO0SQS_FErrYydH6EF5kZzbBGB7K4U2ordk/s1600/P1000574.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh90URSoySXdoyphJHZ5E4mROgN7jxpedv-pDlyJtwxuHprB8xQfcpTdtaA617vh443lpPsyGRYhKK2Qxw5IZ6EOMDPvAJaHg-yVmPnsApXXO0SQS_FErrYydH6EF5kZzbBGB7K4U2ordk/s640/P1000574.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
Well that's a lovely image to finish on, 2 new green Italian racing chain guides (no, I have no idea either) back soon with more ramblings :-)Nealhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05102238381809527009noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8274496758467219285.post-82275451069035337852015-06-19T20:02:00.000+01:002015-06-19T20:02:36.479+01:00Crank<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
As promised in the <a href="http://spanishtv175.blogspot.co.uk/2015/06/mag-housing.html" target="_blank">last post</a>, the next post (<a href="http://spanishtv175.blogspot.co.uk/2015/06/crank.html" target="_blank">this one</a>) would be mostly featuring the crank in its rightful place, it is now, as you can see above.<br />
<br />
That's that then, thanks for reading.......................................<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
It was never going to be that short was it (the post, not the crank) if you have learnt something so far from reading/looking at this blog, its that I do like a ramble. On that note, I meant to say ages ago (and possibly did but don't remember) this blog is purely a record (for me) of Izzy being rebuilt, its not meant in any way to be a "how to" or aid to anyone. There are many many better and more accurate blogs out there for that, That's why a lot of what is pictured and described doesn't show (or mention) the intricacies of doing certain things, it assumes you already know, or will look it up if interested.<br />
<br />
So back to the crank, shall we have some more pics, shall we, shall we, ok, lets.......<br />
<br />
First up is the are casing with nothing crank related in sight..........<br />
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjVDT_NdGkk-_3xq19ckt7G76N-vi72ahTrNIQsCJUwz8gqYM48lFcSwgs6_JXYC0bOzl03Ymq2-NYgmZMEONi0gCarCcAiDkeSFJsv1jJvXkVI_SbT3G3s9DDmNL1qDEPp5UAVhy5jK_4/s1600/P1000560.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjVDT_NdGkk-_3xq19ckt7G76N-vi72ahTrNIQsCJUwz8gqYM48lFcSwgs6_JXYC0bOzl03Ymq2-NYgmZMEONi0gCarCcAiDkeSFJsv1jJvXkVI_SbT3G3s9DDmNL1qDEPp5UAVhy5jK_4/s320/P1000560.JPG" width="320" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;"><br /></td></tr>
</tbody></table>
Something is happening, there is a well greased new bearing present.......<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhIdCmZ_3ytpEF8f2nt8rud5AYtNaWqbUWP_2b894RIl0-i1hPyd0pOCdtYJnQi30OGKfOWOx8g4ud1g1IkW7dltvSc7kbWRFChTixhadDO11aP3FDfb9N49TUx81hUps3KwukCKuL3cAI/s1600/P1000561.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhIdCmZ_3ytpEF8f2nt8rud5AYtNaWqbUWP_2b894RIl0-i1hPyd0pOCdtYJnQi30OGKfOWOx8g4ud1g1IkW7dltvSc7kbWRFChTixhadDO11aP3FDfb9N49TUx81hUps3KwukCKuL3cAI/s320/P1000561.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: left;">
</div>
Now there is something else there,the bearing has company, in the shape of of a new gasket<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiZq-tm6vStk3EcGThrN16vNANWHfva2uPPRF1927pezDE9EpJ8tHzpDaboVbEJYMlW2skrX2dt2gftnpB_zNclf4uyJvQ4JdnhJZVRNrye-gPh94Vf37r4bIVYk0RhXFesqzdiUf5y2TY/s1600/P1000562.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiZq-tm6vStk3EcGThrN16vNANWHfva2uPPRF1927pezDE9EpJ8tHzpDaboVbEJYMlW2skrX2dt2gftnpB_zNclf4uyJvQ4JdnhJZVRNrye-gPh94Vf37r4bIVYk0RhXFesqzdiUf5y2TY/s320/P1000562.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
Then the flange (with new oil seal already in place) are fitted, I didn't counter punch the allen bolts, instead using a decent strength thread lock to keep them in place<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhUEPWDSGfHo5JedpTCLJhyphenhyphenJGrOgxqT533g_GwKZDphOUnNFhcgt54GDghXyXl5lsgkipUE0UsgDxiHAxDJmC7AhOrA1nVyWlI_ZRJn7izOaYDMxGJik-MhnBZs-l0miay17eqzLTzqPmM/s1600/P1000564.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhUEPWDSGfHo5JedpTCLJhyphenhyphenJGrOgxqT533g_GwKZDphOUnNFhcgt54GDghXyXl5lsgkipUE0UsgDxiHAxDJmC7AhOrA1nVyWlI_ZRJn7izOaYDMxGJik-MhnBZs-l0miay17eqzLTzqPmM/s320/P1000564.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
Finally the crank, with the aid of a crank puller (from the other side) to get it where it needs to be :-)<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg5Rx_CkRRo5bsDXPwZwj4CFGHkM22ZBC2JB6HSpumfQOpm858OM_lIHFAzaV8LKqXDAAp7c9jlIQuYCPFQL8PMIjLBGZ48s8XF-gENBuFvUfhYpp9p67L8SP83r6jl1JbPHbvJSKU7UeM/s1600/P1000566.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg5Rx_CkRRo5bsDXPwZwj4CFGHkM22ZBC2JB6HSpumfQOpm858OM_lIHFAzaV8LKqXDAAp7c9jlIQuYCPFQL8PMIjLBGZ48s8XF-gENBuFvUfhYpp9p67L8SP83r6jl1JbPHbvJSKU7UeM/s320/P1000566.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
Talking of the other side, that's what you can see below, not hugely exciting I grant you, but the whole point of this post was to highlight the crank being in.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEic5lEzV3fzbCYYnFTN0B93zbEoVQc-xcmWQDOw0n3aFcJNk5_E00HxqnXjI63KPuFj08Lb8MezCGhs3oUI7RrypfIBKJqlXyAF3Cnp5-3nRLfAe22ExOM15wlw5VnujGEKO98AQtMwCDY/s1600/P1000565.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEic5lEzV3fzbCYYnFTN0B93zbEoVQc-xcmWQDOw0n3aFcJNk5_E00HxqnXjI63KPuFj08Lb8MezCGhs3oUI7RrypfIBKJqlXyAF3Cnp5-3nRLfAe22ExOM15wlw5VnujGEKO98AQtMwCDY/s640/P1000565.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
Next up will be the mag housing being fitted, try to contain your excitement dear reader :-)<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
Not to be confused with a magazine rack, which is something entirely different and serves a very different purpose. AKA "magneto housing" or "flywheel housing", take your pick, personally I will stick with "mag housing" but call it what you want, it wont answer you, its a cold metal inanimate object.<br />
<br />
Whatever you choose to call it, that's one up there, with its new oil seals (2), spacer washer, circlip and bearing fitted.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjsDFBlb2law0dd0s-P5fYEy4q71YMqgrTqvk5XSa7hMBxIoED-dNOAQSHFLn4KvClMR_3B62mBwnKeK_Ipu5R6z9nneI_SEsbXuOyVWcAh0ykR7ep-vUB3UYJYnukEXOT07mGXutW9fJc/s1600/P1000531.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjsDFBlb2law0dd0s-P5fYEy4q71YMqgrTqvk5XSa7hMBxIoED-dNOAQSHFLn4KvClMR_3B62mBwnKeK_Ipu5R6z9nneI_SEsbXuOyVWcAh0ykR7ep-vUB3UYJYnukEXOT07mGXutW9fJc/s640/P1000531.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
Same thing, different angle (bit closer up) you can see the smearing of high melting point grease on the bearing to aid lubrication and reduce friction........... <strike>ooh err missus</strike> (nearly went all <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Frankie_Howerd" target="_blank">Frankie Howerd</a> then)<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh4R6i12RGEfy3YuswfS6iToG3bsY80l-L5M-eI5q9HlWCLo43quluvwosctn7M7dYiHYma0Zw68f4xckExC_wSSHnoF3YA1JHuP1gUmxsCuOqR2eNTSZ6XVQ2M03_MBAgNNLO8hBV5TVI/s1600/P1000533.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh4R6i12RGEfy3YuswfS6iToG3bsY80l-L5M-eI5q9HlWCLo43quluvwosctn7M7dYiHYma0Zw68f4xckExC_wSSHnoF3YA1JHuP1gUmxsCuOqR2eNTSZ6XVQ2M03_MBAgNNLO8hBV5TVI/s640/P1000533.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
There it is again, from the other side this tie (the side that sits in the engine casing), looking dirtier from this angle too (no more <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KeLpEC412Xk" target="_blank">Frankie Howerd</a> comments I promise) its not dirty, well it is, but clean dirty (if that makes sense) given everything is new its clean, its just dirty because I covered it in grease, new, clean grease though, keeping up? No? I will move on then.<br />
<br />
Like other parts of the assembly, a heat gun and bearing that have been in the freezer for a while made assembly a lot easier. I am sure DB wonders why there are random metal objects in the freezer at times but hey, it could be worse, I could be planning on using the tumble drier to...... actually, I wont say.<br />
<br />
You will be glad to know this is a short post, the next one will be along soon and feature, for your delectation and delight, the crank, in its rightful place, the engine (as opposed to the plastic tub its been in for ages), I know you cant wait can you, I can tell................Nealhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05102238381809527009noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8274496758467219285.post-45734827448501024002015-05-30T09:00:00.001+01:002015-05-30T09:01:23.037+01:00Bolt on Blue Glove<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
Not a glove that you bolt on, that would be weird and rather unnecessary, nor is it a work of art or musical composition, it really is just a bolt, on a blue glove.<br />
<br />
This is a very short (yes it really will be) post because I forget to mention it in my <strike>last</strike> post, no, the one before, <a href="http://spanishtv175.blogspot.co.uk/2015/05/shout-shimmy.html" target="_blank">Shout and Shimmy</a>, the one about my gearbox shim <strike>hassles</strike> <strike>frustrations</strike> success. I only remembered when I was going through pictures, saw it and thought, I meant to say something about that.<br />
<br />
It's a bolt, an M6 bolt, a 50mm M6 bolt, and its my friend (well it and its identical twin are) for without them, removing the gearbox end plate (for shimming purposes) the several times I had to would have been a real pain.<br />
<br />
For that reason I wanted to acknowledge their help and input with a post just for them, I would also recommend having a couple to hand if you need to do similar. These are stainless steel Allen headed ones, but other bolts/variations are of course available :-)<br />
<br />
P.S. I know there is only one in the picture but trust me, the other one really is identical, monozygotic you could say, in the identical sense, not the "genetics" and "same egg" sense...... I will go now......<br />
<br />

<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgwyzwgWlXncIERQ7iS7QYR3CETCpxy91SwJ8-YkppcDbtE5BDcVIsnhSLOKQDPTViJc3GwgrUpvWW5Ba5UeG5xf83x_RMH0cF3pT9V1RYv66UiR07smvF0NnLcYxNqAT9KuBLXvaN7wgk/s1600/P1000557.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgwyzwgWlXncIERQ7iS7QYR3CETCpxy91SwJ8-YkppcDbtE5BDcVIsnhSLOKQDPTViJc3GwgrUpvWW5Ba5UeG5xf83x_RMH0cF3pT9V1RYv66UiR07smvF0NnLcYxNqAT9KuBLXvaN7wgk/s640/P1000557.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
No, I am not speaking gobbledygook (I didn't realise that word is actually in the OED until I checked) gobbledygook I mean. I have titled this post as such as I wanted to do a quick post about some of the bits that are going on/in the engine.<br />
<br />
Before you ask (although to be fair its not likely anyone will) yes, that is the ceiling in our lounge at the top of the picture! The reason, well, the garage isn't the best for not getting damp and I didn't want to leave it (the exhaust, yes, that's what is) out there where it may get wet. Everything else is in plastic boxes with lids, to keep any potential leaks/water out, but the exhaust wouldn't fit, so it had to stay in the house (much to DB's dismay). The garage isn't actually too bad, only when we get a lot of heavy rain in a couple of places (already patched up a lot of it) but it gives me an excuse to have an exhaust in the lounge, on top of the unit, which I can see whenever I look up a few feet from the telly, which is nice :-)<br />
<br />
So tuning wise, Izzy is having a few tweaks, to become less of a standard 175cc, fifty (plus) year old engined scooter and something more modern, and also hopefully more reliable and nippy.<br />
<br />
I will add pics and more detail in further posts of some of the individual components etc (this was only supposed to be quick post but my rambling has yet again got the better of me) so for now I will just list a few bits instead of adding more pics and details.<br />
<br />
Electrics wise I have upgraded everything to a full <a href="http://www.bgmproducts.co.uk/" target="_blank">BGM</a> electronic ignition set up, including, coil. stator, regulator and a beautifully crafted one piece lightened flywheel from <a href="http://www.twistedrods.co.uk/" target="_blank">Twisted Rods</a>, all of which need to be fitted but are sitting there waiting to go.<br />
<br />
As previously mentioned, all bearings, oils seal, o rings, circlips and gaskets are new and/or uprated along with brakes clutch and suspension. In addition to all of the above, we have the following:<br />
<br />
New crank (uprated GP <a href="https://www.beedspeed.com/lambretta-crank-crankshaft-italian-mazzucchelli-p-1145.html" target="_blank">Mazzucchelli</a>)<br />
New barrel, piston etc (Gori 200cc "<a href="http://www.gorielaborazioni.it/kit_sport_eng.php" target="_blank">Sport</a>" kit)<br />
New exhaust (matching Gori "<a href="http://www.gorielaborazioni.it/exhaustslambretta.php" target="_blank">Sport</a>" exhaust)<br />
<br />
I went for the sport combination as opposed to the <a href="http://www.gorielaborazioni.it/kit_racing_eng.php" target="_blank">racing</a> one to keep things more sensible (a novelty for me, must be my age) and allow for a more original look (carb/airbox wise) also, an important factor (DB may be looking), it was the cheaper option :-)<br />
<br />
I bought the <a href="http://www.gorielaborazioni.it/index_eng.php" target="_blank">Gori</a> stuff directly from Italy (as opposed to paying more to get it all from a UK supplier) and dealt (through email) with a guy called Andy, who was absolutely brilliant and very helpful, I would highly recommend doing the same if you are after anything <a href="http://www.gorielaborazioni.it/index_eng.php" target="_blank">Gori</a> related.<br />
<br />
So, that's a relatively brief (for me) synopsis of what's going inside (or attached to) the engine cases and I am going to finish the post with one final link.<br />
<br />
When deciding on what kit and exhaust to go for I did a lot of reading and deliberating around various options, views, performance specs etc. While doing that I stumbled across this <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BSbkx9JvnHU" target="_blank">video</a> (ignore the music and scroll to around the 40 second mark) and the sound of the exhaust is something I am hoping Izzy will have when finished :-)Nealhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05102238381809527009noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8274496758467219285.post-80908067971475460092015-05-25T20:13:00.000+01:002015-08-14T19:36:58.749+01:00Shout Shimmy<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
I will make no excuses for the title of this post enabling me to make a shameless link to a <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wKTMxDci1yE" target="_blank">song</a>, its a catchy little number (as they say)...(who says?)...(no idea). I have to say I prefer the <a href="http://thewho.com/" target="_blank">Who's</a> "rockier" 70's stuff as opposed to the earlier stuff, but its all good and very enjoyable (in my opinion).<br />
<br />
So, the post title, why "shout shimmy" (and yes I know the song is shout AND shimmy) well, its because "shimming" the gearbox did, at times, almost (I didn't but it was close) cause to me shout at times, hence, shout <strike>shimming</strike> shimmy.<br />
<br />
I thought I would be clever (never learn re that one) and put the gearbox end plate on without the bearing fitted first (as I had already removed the old one), to make popping it on and off easier, which it did, so that I could check the clearance and make sure the right size shim was fitted.<br />
<br />
Once I had figured out which size to use, I fitted the new bearing to the end plate and then tightened everything down as per the suggested torque settings. For some reason (probably incompetence) it took me several times to get it right still. I think (actually I know) a lot of the problem is that I try to be too thorough and precise. I also figured, if I was going to "tinker" with it and make sure the right size shim was in place, it was better to do it now, than once everything in the engine case was back together and the engine was in the frame.<br />
<br />
So that is it, that's all I have to say, the gearbox is in and the end plate is on (finally) so that this post done.<br />
<br />
Well, there will be a few more words and some more pictures but please don't read on unless you feel really compelled.<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Above you can see the layshaft, gear selector, sliding dog (you gotta love the names) and Christmas tree, see, great names, a better scooter related Christmas tree would be <a href="http://40.media.tumblr.com/f35ec14bbf7678ef14758cad4a5a3449/tumblr_ngo6celda71svpa8fo1_500.jpg" target="_blank">this</a>, but its neither a Lambretta, or a Christmas tree, in a gearbox sense. As with everything else in the engine, new bearings, o rings, oil seals etc have been used throughout, just because there is no picture doesn't mean they aren't there and aren't shiny new :-)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Then we have a fourth gear (above picture) guess what's in the picture below? Go on, guess.......</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjfphijQ0pdrBllnAyhkgOhUvtO9YB1P7b72pp2hlHZW8jfMfSolxkZoG5885AzLDU6-SLstNmqpeiMjNwQGp11lEWFSQH1NIaDhpvsyETIX9233kBxyW7_5u2_-bhza0dp5OjJly8Snmw/s1600/P1000536.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjfphijQ0pdrBllnAyhkgOhUvtO9YB1P7b72pp2hlHZW8jfMfSolxkZoG5885AzLDU6-SLstNmqpeiMjNwQGp11lEWFSQH1NIaDhpvsyETIX9233kBxyW7_5u2_-bhza0dp5OjJly8Snmw/s320/P1000536.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
That's right, you guessed correct, third gear, do you fancy theorizing what might be next?<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEifkZjA1CmSJOkjrp4oddspCh9D63IePuFtnRhZl3ZmoOAG6CImUYiGeMiACct-PXdh5jZTJbZBdlL4dDBa6wlMiaj-dNoPIGTMecm7vh_Nto8lRziTOIwhgNpCPjLGcnjSSUSfTuwx4lY/s1600/P1000537.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEifkZjA1CmSJOkjrp4oddspCh9D63IePuFtnRhZl3ZmoOAG6CImUYiGeMiACct-PXdh5jZTJbZBdlL4dDBa6wlMiaj-dNoPIGTMecm7vh_Nto8lRziTOIwhgNpCPjLGcnjSSUSfTuwx4lY/s320/P1000537.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
Second gear of course, definitely a pattern emerging here (though they aren't pattern gears, they are original) but you know what I mean.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj0qco8XgpQ1J3ZmpD6WngkVIlBpc2UUL9Q1hVGJeCINBkUrchQZN4eZtDAkQROmBiR00z_C8G8tifD66noHo99R6iaDR1VkpvzF45Zq-KK8MzayGpWBI3obsaM4rnYcNfiS1cxgQiZ2N8/s1600/P1000530.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj0qco8XgpQ1J3ZmpD6WngkVIlBpc2UUL9Q1hVGJeCINBkUrchQZN4eZtDAkQROmBiR00z_C8G8tifD66noHo99R6iaDR1VkpvzF45Zq-KK8MzayGpWBI3obsaM4rnYcNfiS1cxgQiZ2N8/s320/P1000530.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
Last but not least, you can see above, first gear, hurray, we made it. I have kept the original TV 175 gearbox as these are apparently quite good for "torquey" engines, which I think mine will be given the kit, exhaust etc. If need be, it can always be changed, or elements of it (the drive sprocket, crownwheel or individual gears) but I am thinking I may as well try it as it is before tinkering further as it could well work just fine. Also, I could try a different combination (or complete gearbox) that doesn't work great and end up changing it anyway, so stick with what's there is my choice for the gearbox :-)Nealhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05102238381809527009noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8274496758467219285.post-44604398894660811992015-05-04T18:16:00.000+01:002015-05-04T18:16:03.767+01:00Words and Pictures<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
While thinking of a title for the post, the chosen one seemed most apt, it does what it says. Trouble is, as soon as I thought of it, I couldn't get the opening titles of the 70s (it also went into the 80s and 90s) children's tv program out of my head. I can still hear it now as I am typing and as I am suffering you can too "<a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ul9oxKh9cSw" target="_blank">Words and Pictures</a>" assuming you are reading and click on the link, if not, well I will just sit here with it going around my head and ponder if I need help.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Anyway, back to the post, (I can still hear it) last time I mentioned the long delay and this time I will explain (partly) why and also bring things up to date.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Initially, I had put an old (spare non working) engine (as mentioned in a <a href="http://spanishtv175.blogspot.co.uk/2013/08/go-faster-stripes.html" target="_blank">previous post</a>) in to the frame to line up cables etc due to the cost of (and yet decided details) associated with putting the actual engine in that was staying. In theory, harmless enough plan, enabled me to do bits, in reality, completely pointless. Pointless due to the fact that I didn't want to re assemble too much more of Izzy until I could check the electrics (this not being my strongest area).....(like many others linked to this project lol) so I figured I was left with a few choices. <i>Gamble</i> (that everything was fine electrics/cable wise) and just carry on with the build. <i>Blag</i> (a running engine) that I could "pop" (yes I know its not as simple as that hence part of the reason for not doing it) in the frame and check everything. Or finally, <i>do it properly</i>, something of an alien concept where Izzy is concerned as I probably haven't been doing much of that in places, still, I'm happy and having fun :-)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEho-qSVPpcchqoK5uEy0kY4MjMrZWcv9bFozW0Pup9HPW_BllrbKQxZHl_CUEsRspVUUMrfZdrmSBL7Ghmc_x-YWrzrO9oNMNZIQri1FB0mt98RHPMhGsEaFvtfWYSjZkGdQMDlounR19Q/s1600/P1000521.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEho-qSVPpcchqoK5uEy0kY4MjMrZWcv9bFozW0Pup9HPW_BllrbKQxZHl_CUEsRspVUUMrfZdrmSBL7Ghmc_x-YWrzrO9oNMNZIQri1FB0mt98RHPMhGsEaFvtfWYSjZkGdQMDlounR19Q/s1600/P1000521.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
So, the picture above is my answer, actually it's not, it doesn't tell you anything does it, except that no engine is present, not even the old non working one which I took out (pointless exercise that was lol). What it does show is that I didn't take the <i>gamble</i> option, I can also tell you I didn't take the <i>blag </i>option either.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhfkjnWImPqZn5q3RAEKkCLUPte-8V5pvW7uuD2V_PRTJKEH8g5hj5vcf9CClPr_dMw4l9c2S5zdz1ngPZ10CXMO7sMkuTD2ZrX4EMoLTyIwQF8vUZbstjlZYSgiaqWVlW0DDkFTnQREJU/s1600/P1000522.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhfkjnWImPqZn5q3RAEKkCLUPte-8V5pvW7uuD2V_PRTJKEH8g5hj5vcf9CClPr_dMw4l9c2S5zdz1ngPZ10CXMO7sMkuTD2ZrX4EMoLTyIwQF8vUZbstjlZYSgiaqWVlW0DDkFTnQREJU/s1600/P1000522.JPG" width="480" /></a></div>
<br />
Another pic that tells you nothing, well it shows that the front wheel looks out of line but there is no air in the tyre yet, thankfully I didn't inflate it when I fitted it, it was that long ago it would have needed re inflating anyway...........<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgCcm0R2HtO2ZrSVh5i5UtXFbJ-aSMqcVh2kHBhu8cWDQoG2PkJ4QKcKuz2rmPpCE0aQJFsv-M1s0qC68On-jqgM-G-cxUVNAnhGM-wCTQqkIsaMln3Q07QqXYWw8OLd-UVAan4qbGCbpM/s1600/P1000517.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgCcm0R2HtO2ZrSVh5i5UtXFbJ-aSMqcVh2kHBhu8cWDQoG2PkJ4QKcKuz2rmPpCE0aQJFsv-M1s0qC68On-jqgM-G-cxUVNAnhGM-wCTQqkIsaMln3Q07QqXYWw8OLd-UVAan4qbGCbpM/s1600/P1000517.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
The decision was, <i>do it properly</i>, as in, put the engine in that's staying in. This is mostly (though not wholly) why there has been such a delay, pennies, or lack of. I knew the engine would be the dearest part (given the paint had already been done and paid for many years before) and I also knew to do it the way I wanted to (more on that in the next post or few) would need money. Given as us nurses don't earn a lot anyway, coupled with my dearly beloved (DB) being a student (nurse) for the past 3 years and us being reliant on 1 (my) wage, money has not been flowing freely.<br />
<br />
I should say at this point that I have not spent much at all (DB may read this) probably about £20.00 maybe £30.00, either way I am sure it was less than fifty pounds altogether to get everything I needed for the engine (as stated, more on this in a later post) so not much money at all, "nudge nudge wink wink" ..... cue another link...... <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ona-RhLfRfc" target="_blank">a nods as good as a wink to a blind bat</a>........... a bit like words and pictures, as soon as I thought nudge nudge (etc) that sketch immediately came into my head.<br />
<br />
Moving on, the first step (after getting the pennies) was to get the cases vapour/aqua blasted, after all, if I was spending all that money (fifty odd pound.....remember, DB may be looking) I didn't want to put all those goodies into dirty old cases. No, that's not something I can make a link to, thankfully. I did actually just google it (dirty old cases) as I thought, there must be a band called that, nothing immediately obvious (band wise) and some things I (wisely) chose not to look at, focus man, stick to the task at hand and finish this post.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhVC_qMyrdQ3r_1tIWrMHcIqQaANbC9DlumwPydsxrudwR4xlZrezeY0iuCq0RkvssIhG5RR3WONUI6SrfcLI8e5iggvNL1eOTINRMnNGXt16KEC77hMJzmo3RP7I-LhmKCMz3a3-vbcbk/s1600/P1000518.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhVC_qMyrdQ3r_1tIWrMHcIqQaANbC9DlumwPydsxrudwR4xlZrezeY0iuCq0RkvssIhG5RR3WONUI6SrfcLI8e5iggvNL1eOTINRMnNGXt16KEC77hMJzmo3RP7I-LhmKCMz3a3-vbcbk/s1600/P1000518.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
I found a <a href="http://shotbeadaquablasting.co.uk/" target="_blank">guy</a> relatively locally to do the vapour blasting, very good price, very good job, very nice man, would recommend him. I am really pleased at how well it came out, obviously there are a few marks, scrapes and scratches (and gouges as seen above where the kick-start has rubbed) but given its over half a century old, its not bad, in fact its bloomin marvellous really.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgNl8ePmASrsDxT3UUNQnaz1Znyk8r8G561xnNkEQo0GBEnxeh14c7GvrKXJrhHg0JFYzC0VPWUTpN4v3IbQSqXhKeT48Rp9CjEt3PJ_ehqKhCRnoGDLNiGCqmY0DICZObXuxB2PEBYpzs/s1600/P1000519.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgNl8ePmASrsDxT3UUNQnaz1Znyk8r8G561xnNkEQo0GBEnxeh14c7GvrKXJrhHg0JFYzC0VPWUTpN4v3IbQSqXhKeT48Rp9CjEt3PJ_ehqKhCRnoGDLNiGCqmY0DICZObXuxB2PEBYpzs/s1600/P1000519.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
As you can see, the cases are ready to go and totally bare except for new (shiny) engine mounts. I took the case to <a href="http://www.essexclassicscooters.co.uk/" target="_blank">somewhere else</a> relatively local (at least not too far) to have the mounts fitted and like the vapour blasting was pleased with the outcome. I went for the longer engine mounts (as opposed to the short ones originally fitted) to provide reduced vibration and a smoother ride....... I'm saying nothing and certainly not putting in a link.<br />
<br />
I didn't want to attempt fitting these myself (therein lies a possible broken casing if I did) as its best left to those properly equipped to do it (which I am not) hence me getting them done. I will be doing pretty much everything else myself (engine rebuild wise, well all of Izzy) although may get some assistance if needed, to risk damaging anything (as with the engine mounts) or if I get really stuck.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

So that's it, I have reached the end of the post (hooray I hear) didn't it go on, sorry about that, I rarely use 2 words when 23 will do :-)Nealhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05102238381809527009noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8274496758467219285.post-68763436306099554052015-04-18T19:29:00.000+01:002015-05-03T09:39:23.725+01:00I cant explain......<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

Honestly, I really cant, well I could (explain) but it would in no way justify the neglect I have demonstrated. When I talk of neglect I mean to Izzy (obviously, that's what this blog is about) but also the blog itself. The blog more so in truth as I have been doing things to Izzy during the <b><span style="font-size: large;">604</span></b> days that I haven't updated the blog. I had to emphasise the six o four part as its a loooooong time, too long, way too long, 86 weeks and two days in fact. Or, if you would prefer it to be broken down to seconds it equates to 52,185,600 (or 869,760 minutes) actually that hasn't helped, I feel very neglectful now.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
So, why the delay, honestly, you really don't want to know, suffice to say life has yet again got in the way and "stuff" has been happening, as it does. But now I am determined (yes, I know I have said it before) to see it through to the end and get Izzy finished, running and ridden and update the blog more frequently as I do. To be fair, its not hard to update more frequently than I have been (1 year, 7 months and 27 days) but I aim to post something at least monthly from now on. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I am also going to link (if I can, technophobe that I am) to my Facebook in order to "motivate" myself to be more active on the blog. Mind you, I am not particularly "active" on Facebook either so that may not work, do you see a pattern emerging :-)</div>

As much as I would love to have a little robot (particularly one with Man City blue colouring in places) guarding Izzy 24hrs a day, I haven't, nor will I have, the mere idea is bonkers.<br />
<br />
What I will use of course is chains, not <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HQr7RxYec-0" target="_blank">battleship chains</a>, that's a song, but a form of security chain (look out for more on this in a later post), predominantly for when Izzy's completed (I know that day will come eventually) and is away from the secure garage where she currently resides.<br />
<br />
In the mean time, between further pottering I have also, while everything is still accessible, purchased and applied a suitable <a href="http://www.datatag.co.uk/" target="_blank">Datatag</a> product, just in case any bits of her do vanish and are fortunate enough to turn up again, well you never know do you..........................................Nealhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05102238381809527009noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8274496758467219285.post-48026495264707702532013-08-13T16:45:00.002+01:002013-08-13T16:45:35.572+01:00Go Faster (stripes?)<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
They aren't, obviously, but the 2 red stripes were originally on all Spanish TV175's so will find their way on to the legshields of mine, when it comes to the finishing touches. I know you can only see one of the original ones in the pic but if you look at the bottom pic (horizontal stripe) you can see the second strip under the added paint, as a raised line. <br />
<br />
Why have I suddenly thought about this, well, I didn't put any pictures up of what I have been doing recently (fitting cables and loom) as this still isn't completely done (waiting on a few more bits) they are pretty much where they will be staying but only held by tape at present not the correct clamps, ties. I also popped a spare (rather old and incomplete) engine into the frame in order to make sure cables were in the right place (length wise) as the actual engine that will be going in is not finished yet. I say not finished, its not even started, as it will be the last thing I do once everything else is done (bar a few finishing touches, like red lines lol) mostly due to the fact this will probably be the dearest part of the rebuild. <br />
<br />
I think an accurate description for what I have been doing recently is "pottering about", makes me sound incredibly old (well I am getting that way) but its the best way I can describe the loads of little bits I have been doing, tinkering with the wiring/cables and various other bits of bodywork, spraying tank straps (managed to get a perfectly matching white) confirming what extra bits/parts I need, figuring out what I'm likely to do with the engine and working out what bits I want chromed. This includes the gear change and throttle housing as these were annoyingly never sprayed all those years ago when the rest of it was done. I also annoyingly don't have any of the paint or the colour identification so cant now get these bits done. I may, in fact I'm sure I will, once it is done, go somewhere and get a colour match done and some paint made up and get them sprayed, it would also be handy to have some for any little bits that need touching up, but for now, they are going to be chromed, I can delay no more. its been tool long as it is :-)<br />
<br />
I also forgot to mention in my last post, I finally thought of a name for IT too, I know I haven't used it yet and have used the word "it" in this post, but from now on IT will officially be know as Izzy, there are reasons behind this that I will no doubt explain in another post (just to bore you further) but not now, so, Izzy it is, which sounds a bit like izzyitis, which could be a medical condition, although its not. I seem to have overloaded on labels for this post too so I really should stop, more Izzy updates soon.............Nealhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05102238381809527009noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8274496758467219285.post-57741605806705540192013-08-10T14:39:00.000+01:002013-08-10T14:39:35.846+01:00Disc Brake, Innocenti (again)................<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
I mentioned in my last post, just recently.......... <br />
<br />
Ok it wasn't recent, it was a ridiculously long time ago......<br />
<br />
This must officially be the slowest Lambretta rebuild ever (though I imagine there is one in a darkened place somewhere that has taken longer) .... (he says hoping it is true but not totally convinced). I wont even attempt to explain why there has been a long hiatus this time, but I will say I plan to crack on with it now, while funds permit at least.<br />
<br />
So back to the disc brake, as I said in my last post much of the TV is Italian, the disc brake being another example of this and it is the latest thing to be reassembled, over the past week or so. New bearings, oil seals, pads, washers, nuts and nipples (sort of rolls of the tongue doesn't it) were used, along with anything else that needed replacing, I have kept the original disc as it is unmarked and they aren't cheap to replace (just for the sake of it) likewise the original operating arm was retained as it functions perfectly and like the disc, is undamaged. I wanted to see it with rubber wrapped around it (not linked to the nuts and nipples comment earlier I hasten to add) so couldn't resist popping the type and rims on. I have gone for Michelin S1's, I am sure everyone has their preferences, but for me (having used them on my Vespa for many years) I think the grip and ride quality is excellent, I also love the look (well it has to play a part surely). Obviously safety and performance are more important though and it excels on both counts in my (and many others) opinion so a pair (with matching inner tubes) were ordered. Just need to get the operating arm cover, i cap, put some air in the tyre and its done.<br />
<br />
Once the disc was assembled and encased in rims and rubber I wanted to see how the white (which certain parts are painted) would look against the blue that forms most of the colour, so after putting the stand and splash plate on (not white) I fitted the rear mudguard, just to see how it looked against the blue, works for me.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhD9Lx87S2TnBaBrhoNIPvLDUFYyEKnt3TP0Tj2fWx0ptJrTAQE2rO12-9nG7fuPqO-aBYSBSkYEXUPVJKvZgaK46uBAxsopx6dSNDDjJklPP6MjZzajEmBe2MSOw4uXvjILZpfv-9Dg9I/s1600/P1000493.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhD9Lx87S2TnBaBrhoNIPvLDUFYyEKnt3TP0Tj2fWx0ptJrTAQE2rO12-9nG7fuPqO-aBYSBSkYEXUPVJKvZgaK46uBAxsopx6dSNDDjJklPP6MjZzajEmBe2MSOw4uXvjILZpfv-9Dg9I/s400/P1000493.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
Next up, cables and loom to be fitted to the frame, followed by various bits of bodywork. This WILL be over the coming days/week so expect another update soon, honestly, I mean it this time :-)Nealhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05102238381809527009noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8274496758467219285.post-70524242364532378792012-11-23T20:18:00.001+00:002012-11-25T18:51:47.902+00:00"Innocenti snobbery"<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br /></div>
<br />
<br />
<div class="western" style="margin-bottom: 0cm;">
Not sure if such an expression exists (pretty sure it does), but I do know there are plenty of folk that can be a bit on the “selective” side when it comes to all things Lambretta, as in, if it isn’t Italian (doesn’t have the famous Innocenti logo stamped on it) then its not worth having.</div>
<div class="western" style="margin-bottom: 0cm;">
<br /></div>
<div class="western" style="margin-bottom: 0cm;">
Personally I have never been of this mindset, I have encountered various Lambrettas (and parts) in the past (owned, worked on, ridden, lusted after, etc) from Italy, Spain and India and for me, if its up to the job it matters not where it was made.</div>
<div class="western" style="margin-bottom: 0cm;">
<br /></div>
<div class="western" style="margin-bottom: 0cm;">
If its of poor quality, then, fair enough you wouldn’t put it on your pride and joy but having that “mythical” (ok I'm being a bit tongue in cheek) Innocenti logo stamped on it tends to increase its desirability to certain people, to ridiculous levels. You only need to take a look at the prices that some of the “<strike>dusty unwanted stuff</strike>” “new old stock” or “<strike>scrap junk I wouldn’t give you tuppence for</strike>” “second hand but original” parts and related items that change hands on ebay (and other places) to realise this.</div>
<div class="western" style="margin-bottom: 0cm;">
<br /></div>
<div class="western" style="margin-bottom: 0cm;">
Anyway, back to IT (really need to think of a name) I’m not sure if I mentioned in an earlier post but it is a very early Spanish TV 175, the guy I got it from is a big fan of Spanish Lambrettas and also quite an expert in this area.. He has numerous models himself, including a series 3 TV, which he thought was the earliest known example, but mine is a few numbers before his, thus making mine, possibly, the earliest known example. He was tempted to keep it for himself, for this very reason, but after some arm twisting (and the fact he is a top bloke) I managed to come into possession of it.</div>
<div class="western" style="margin-bottom: 0cm;">
<br /></div>
<div class="western" style="margin-bottom: 0cm;">
The point of that bit of nostalgia being that all early in the run Spanish models were predominantly made from Italian components due to the Innocenti factory shipping over any remaining parts along with the tooling (to make said parts) when they finished one model and started on a new one, with me? If not you can always ask for clarification, if you’re still there lol.</div>
<div class="western" style="margin-bottom: 0cm;">
<br /></div>
<div class="western" style="margin-bottom: 0cm;">
I really will get to the point of this post, if I can remember it............ </div>
<div class="western" style="margin-bottom: 0cm;">
<br /></div>
<div class="western" style="margin-bottom: 0cm;">
That’s it, the forks are rebuilt and back in the frame, with accompanying new cups and bearings etc., the headset base is also attached (well it would have been rude not to given the top of the forks were sitting there waiting for something to be attached to them) and as you can see in the pic, they, like much of IT are actually Innocenti, though Spanish, keeping up? wonderful :-)</div>
<div class="western" style="margin-bottom: 0cm;">
<br /></div>
<div class="western" style="margin-bottom: 0cm;">
<br /></div>
<div class="western" style="margin-bottom: 0cm;">
So it's (IT)....(must think of name, must think of name must think.... repeat until name thought of) looking a tad, only a tad, but a tad like something is happening to her (is IT a her, more things to consider)</div>
<div class="western" style="margin-bottom: 0cm;">
<br /></div>
<div class="western" style="margin-bottom: 0cm;">
PS, I meant to post this a few weeks back after I had spent time in the garage with her/him/IT...................</div>

<br />
<div class="western" style="margin-bottom: 0cm;">
<br /></div>
<div class="western" style="margin-bottom: 0cm;">
I was quite surprised how well they (<a href="http://spanishtv175.blogspot.co.uk/2012/10/dirty-links.html" target="_blank">the dirty links</a>) came up with a bit of effort. A Dremel is a wonderful thing, certainly made the task of cleaning them and making them shine (in places) a lot easier. As you can see below (in a pic of one of the links back in the forks), once I had cleaned all the decades of grime off, they were returned to their rightful place. </div>
<div class="western" style="margin-bottom: 0cm;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgAO7IPdJIk9XbBR29H1Fbqc3TFecdR_jpHVBMMGylTM4COU5DdWWkz1AWqEm8dC_ChLt3WFtnJW767vwbkSA821JGHTw38yCeePvB1Z5D1nomBLl_w1s8Iko_DETL1uO6LhEkLIPsXRfs/s1600/P1000473.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" nea="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgAO7IPdJIk9XbBR29H1Fbqc3TFecdR_jpHVBMMGylTM4COU5DdWWkz1AWqEm8dC_ChLt3WFtnJW767vwbkSA821JGHTw38yCeePvB1Z5D1nomBLl_w1s8Iko_DETL1uO6LhEkLIPsXRfs/s320/P1000473.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="western" style="margin-bottom: 0cm;">
</div>
<div class="western" style="margin-bottom: 0cm;">
Along with new bushes and bolts, new springs were fitted to the forks as well as new bolt in buffers. It made for an interesting time fitting the links back into the forks, with an uprated spring and large buffers top and bottom (used this combination before and makes for a stiffer suspension with a nice firm ride, works for me). I know people that do undertake this procedure without a fork spring compressor but I'm very much of the opinion that making things as easy as possible for yourself is sensible. So I do, ok maybe not in all aspects of life, or even all aspects of rebuilding IT, but as far as the forks go, easy as possible all the way thank you.</div>
<div class="western" style="margin-bottom: 0cm;">
<br /></div>
<div class="western" style="margin-bottom: 0cm;">
The next pic is the last of this post and isn’t particularly exciting, but I took it anyway so its going on the screen, if you don’t want to look don’t, I cant make that decision for you. All I can do is tell you what the pic contains and you can then make a choice whether to look or not. Its a pic of 3 wonderful items that made putting the links back into the forks much easier (than it would have been without them). The spring compressor, the trusty rubber mallet and a clamp that I used to pull the links into position so I could put the bolts in, first time I had done it this way, goodness knows why I hadn’t sooner, made it sooooooo much easier, no scraped knuckles, scratched paint or expletives, all very civilised.</div>
<div class="western" style="margin-bottom: 0cm;">
